The Army of Darkness is, not unlike the race bikes, constantly in flux. Conscripting innocents or shanghaiing "friends" into scoring stints, repairing machinery or driving at night notwithstanding, the core team for 1998 is as follows:

Sam Fleming:
Crisis Task: Resource Management / Prioritizing
Street bike: 1996 GSXR 750
Occupation: No one is really quite sure what he does
Knee down: 1989
Remains on team despite severe personality problems and slow riding since he knows where all the bodies are buried. Arguably started this whole mess by proposing to his closest competitors in 1993 that they all band together to field a team at the last 24 hour at Nelson Ledges. Many have still not forgiven him. Bakes a mean chocolate chip cookie.

Jim Williams:
Crisis Task – Scrounger.
Street bike: 1994 CBR 900
Occupation: Network Geek
Knee Down: 1991
Rode in the inaugural 24 hour in 1993, came up with some lame TZ250 excuse in 1994 and then returned to the fold for all seasons since 1996. Recently found confidence in the rear wheel and will not shut up about it. Can get an internet connection from anywhere in the country, including the van.

John Donnelly:
Crisis Task – Exploring the Realm of the Unlikely.
Street Bike: 1996 KTM 600
Occupation: Speculator
Knee Down: 1989
The non-conformist of the group. Drives a truck that doesn’t break down, often wears white, has a wife and kids but, despite this, is not a bad guy. Has riden with team since the inaugural 24hr but belies his ample intelligence by returning for more abuse race after race. Understands derivatives.

Tim Gooding:
Crisis Task – Impossible Fabrication Solutions / Reality Checking Sam.
Street Bike:1990 FZR 1000.
Occupation: Geologist @ Smithsonian Institute
Knee Down: 1992
Race partners with Sam since 1990. Learned to wrench, machine, diagnosis and theorize as needed. Quietly and thanklessly (I know I never thank him-SF) builds very fast motorcycles. Has made electron microprobe slides of the Dead Sea Scrolls and Mars. Is known as "Teem" in Russia.

Amy Pickering
:Crisis Task-Personnel Supervision/Second Wrench.
Street Bike:1993 FZR 600.
Occupation: Clerk @ Dischord Records.
Knee Down: 1997
Came to roadracing in 1993, became very fond of endurance in 1994, grew despondent with Sam’s regional sprint season in 1995 and happily returned to having grease and dirt up to her elbows for 1996 & on. Sings requiems at the Kennedy Center.

Julian Woods:
Crisis Task – Picking up Something Really Really Heavy.
Street Bike:1986 FZ 750.
Occupation: Potter
Knee Down: 1997
A relative new comer to the team he has a habit of wearing a table cloth on his head and being helpful. Particularly adept at loading a trailer in such a manner that none of the contents are damaged when the trailer is flipped (but let’s work on that potato salad placement Pip). Gentle but powerful omnivore.

Cici Muhktar:
Crisis Task-Catering.
Street bike: The back half of a 1990 FZR 1000.
Occupation: Co-owner @ Polly’s Café in DC
Knee Down: Not Yet
After carefully weighing the thrill of sleep deprivation, dehydration, frustration and scoring vs. having no hobbies at all, Cici unwisely chose endurance racing over more sensible endeavors. Lends AOD her establishment for celebrations and photo shoots.

Greg Morgoglione:
Crisis Task - Running With Wheels.
Street Bike-1981 KZ 750.
Occupation- Hippies don’t work.
Knee Down: 1983
Greg showed up at the end of 1996 and, despite the team spraying for hippies, has proved both resistant to "Hippy-B-Gon" and damn useful at an endurance race. Argued with the MSF about the two fingers vs four fingers on the front brake lever.
