ARMY OF DARKNESS SPONSORS
It's a little hard to believe that we have any sponsors at all but, in fact, we do. In our tradition of biting the hand that feeds here is some information on our current sponsors. You are invited to contact them directly or you could E-mail one of the team members for the low down.
All of our trick and complicated machine work is done by Jeff Manuel at PDI. He does it for us for free so we like him a lot. None of our high performance motors would have been possible without him. He specializes in custom high
precision one off fabrication such as spacer plates, transmission fortification, piston mods as well as straight forward stuff like boring and honing. He also rebuilds printing presses so you can get that old classic printing press project that's been ga
thering dust in your garage up and running again by calling Jeff.
What Jeff doesn't feel like undertaking we farm out to Forrest Kerns. Forrest is a old racer himself and knows how to do just about anything to a motorcycle. From fork swaps to bigger valves and custom pistons, Forrest can do it all. Conveinently he is now working at Battley Cycles now.
Battley Cycles (who are also known as Rockville Harley Davidson but I don't particularly care for Hardly-Ablesons so I'm going to refer to them as Battley Cycles) is probably the best mainstream dealership in the greater D.C. area if not the whole Mid-Atlantic region. The reason is that most of the folks that work there actually own, ride, race and work on motorcycles so they know what you're talking about and often can help you get the right equipment. They support lots of local racers so if you're going to buy, say, a Bimota, you might as well buy it from them. They are not an exclusive Maryland BMW dealer but then Devin won't do weird things like steal your "open house" sign or fence stolen parts either.
We buy our tires (and as an endurance team we go through a lot) from Walt Schaefer Cycle Supply. He stocks and sells Michelins and, after riding street and track for twelve years on all sorts of rubber, I do like the froggy tires the best even if they do have a dumb looking logo (not like blue elephants are any better). They would be the best tire to race on even if they didn't last longer than any other brand, but they do. We don't get much of a deal from Michelin but that's our fault for being a sucky team. You don't see Ulrich's boys worrying about conserving tires. Anyway Walt is a good guy and can get you swingin' swanky tires for your race bike. His prices are pretty dang good even for us privateer types, and best of all, seems to always have tires when no one else does. He can only sell to racers so if you need tires for a street bike contact Battley Cycles .
We get our exhaust pipes from M4. because they hold up well to the trials we put them through and make good power. Stainless steel, tapered pipes, what's not to like?
We use rotary steering dampers built by WER which mounts easily and doesn't get damaged in accidents. You can order them through your local dealer or call WER directly at (908) 637-6385.
