The four stroke enthusiast’s holy mantra is Suck-Squeeze-Bang-Blow. It is through these four steps that our beloved engines deliver us from apex to brake marker. However, underneath the simplification is that the beginning and end of these strokes defined by the piston are wonderfully overlapping and complicated sounds waves shaped through a combination of intake tract lengths, exhaust pipe construction and cam timing. All of the wave science is to trick air into compressing itself into a fixed displacement giving higher outputs for fixed displacement.
However, there is a more direct approach to achieving a far greater end.
